Halloween and Bonfire Night are done, so that can only mean one thing…it’s nearly Christmas!!! We absolutely love the festive season in our family and Bean has already made his “Countdown to Christmas” chart and is crossing the days off excitedly! I am planning lots of festive things to do in the run up to the big day, so we are all very excited to have been invited to go to see Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas at the Waterside Arts Centre in Sale, Manchester.
The book and DVD of Father Christmas are both firm favourites of ours and we love singing, “Another Bloomin’ Christmas” around the house throughout December, so we are really looking forward to seeing it recreated on stage by the Lyric Hammersmith & Pins and Needles Productions. Briggs’ grumpy but lovable Father Christmas will be getting ready for his busiest day of the year and we will watch as he prepares his Christmas deliveries, feeds his reindeer and finally takes flight into the snowy night. But, as with all good tales, things don’t run smoothly, as he encounters treacherous weather conditions and has to squeeze through soot-covered chimneys, all while plenty of mischief is had by his cheeky pets, cat and Dog. With live music, songs and playful puppetry, it sounds like a perfect festive family treat. What’s more, all evening performances are “Slumber Shows”, so you can go in your pyjamas, take your favourite bedtime bear and pre-order a milk and cookie pack with your tickets! It all sounds fabulous!
Father Christmas runs at the Waterside Arts Centre, Sale from 5th-31st December and tickets can be bought here or by ringing the box office on 0161 912 5616.
We can’t wait!
Disclosure: We have been given 3 tickets for the show in exchange for a preview post and review. However, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
