Beaumaris is such a beautiful little town and a “must visit” on any trip to Anglesey! You can get a taste of history at the medieval castle, see one of the oldest courthouses in Britain or experience the Victorian Gaol. You can pop to the pier to go crabbing or catch a rib ride or a boat trip to Puffin Island and you can visit the lifeboat station which celebrated 100 years of lifesaving history back in 2014.
There are also some lovely shops in the town. Here are our top 5 shops to visit in Beaumaris:
TINKERS AND BELLES
Tinkers and Belles is gorgeous and normally our first stop when visiting Beaumaris. The independent children’s boutique is filled with delightful toys, gifts and clothes for children and the gorgeous tutus are a must-have!
JANET BELL HOME
(Oriel “JANET BELL” Gallery)
I enter this shop and immediately relax. I don’t know why but the atmosphere is so calm and serene and I love it. The shop sells a selection of beautiful paintings, prints, gifts, jewellery, homeware and more and even if you don’t buy anything you’ll come out feeling better than when you went in! The owners, Janet (a professional artist) and Sean (her husband) also own the equally lovely Janet Bell Gallery, just round the corner from the home shop and have won three Anglesey tourism awards for Best Arts and Crafts on Anglesey.
THE LITTLE CHILLI SHOP
The Little Chilli Shop sells home-made chilli sauces (made from mostly locally sourced chillis) chilli pickles and preserves, chilli sweets, chilli sweets and even turmeric tea-bags! The owners have a passion for chillis and really know their stuff. Definitely a place to visit for those with an adventurous palette!
BEAUMARIS CASTLE GIFT SHOP
I’ve only added this to the list because if you visit Beaumaris you HAVE to visit its castle (and if your children are like ours that means you will also HAVE to spend at least half an hour in the gift shop afterwards!!).
THE RED BOAT ICE CREAM PARLOUR
No visit to Beaumaris is complete without having had an ice-cream from the Red Boat, whatever the weather! There are lots of delicious flavours and they even cater for coeliacs so I can have an ice cream in a gluten free cone too! They have a lovely little cafe upstairs as well.
There are plenty more shops to visit in beautiful Beaumaris. Do you have a favourite? Please feel free to comment below!
