2019 Plans So Far!

If I’m completely honest, when the lovely Katy over at Otis and Us asked me to share my plans for 2019 in a post I panicked, because I hadn’t really thought about it in much detail. But actually, it’s made me sit down and take a look at the things that we do have planned and also the things that we keep talking about but haven’t actually set in stone – so thank you Katy for getting us organised!

Can you believe it’s March already? The past two months have whizzed by and now the daffodils are flowering – although the weather doesn’t quite know what it’s doing at the moment! We’ve just moved back into our own home after living with my parents for just over 4 months whilst our house was being renovated (and I was very poorly) so March will really be spent settling ourselves in and getting the house sorted.

However, we do have a couple of things planned this month! My seven year old, is really into “Horrible Histories” at the moment so is incredibly excited that the “Terrible Tudors” and “Awful Egyptians” will be coming to one of our local theatres, The Regent Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent next week. That’s definitely something to look forward to! We’re also hoping to head to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester – we went when the children were younger and we all really enjoyed it but with my 3 year old daughter recently announcing that she wants to be an engineer when she’s older I think we’re definitely due another visit!

The school Easter holidays…yay!! Regular followers of Typical Mummy will know that we try to spend as much time as possible on Anglesey, our “happy place.” With Easter being so late this year we’re really hoping for some good weather so that we can make the most of the beach, get the kayaks and paddleboards out and spend lots of time in our wetsuits.

Mr J. is learning to kitesurf so hopefully he’ll be able to fit in a couple of lessons around work. We’ll also do some more exploring of the island so look out for more posts documenting our adventures. We’ll definitely return to some old favourites too…Penmon Point is a must, as is Beaumaris Castle. The kids and I also want to show Daddy the secret beach at Penrhos Nature Reserve as he didn’t come with us when we visited there and we’ll definitely climb up Parys Mountain again to experience those awesome views. And I’m sure the kids will want another trip to Greenwood Family Park on the mainland as well!

There are only 4 weeks of school after the Easter holidays before the May/June Half Term holiday – how crazy is that? In those 4 weeks we’d like to re-visit the Monkey Forest in Stoke-on-Trent (you can read about our recent visit here) because it will be “baby season” and the children are desperate to see some of the baby monkeys!

We’ve also been invited by Carrot Productions to go and watch Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels Tour at the Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent which looks like it’s going to be fabulous fun! You can read more here. The Half-Term holiday week will probably see us returning to Anglesey for some much-needed “Vitamin Sea” and valuable family time and we will possibly pop across to the Llyn Peninsula to visit friends who have a holiday home in Abersoch.

We’d really like to go abroad this Summer, after having a lovely holiday in Portugal last year, and this year I have my heart set on Italy. If I had to live in any country other than the UK it would definitely be Italy, I just love it! The lifestyle, the language, the history and the landscape just steal my heart – and of course, the food and wine are rather yummy too! Mr J. and I stayed in Sorrento on our honeymoon, he’s visited Italy lots with work, and I went quite a few times with my family as a teenager. However, our children have never been so I’d really like them to fall in love with it too! Tuscany is probably my favourite region – the Tuscan countryside is simply stunning, and the cities of Florence, Siena, Pisa and more are so beautiful to explore and steeped in history. However, I have never visited the lakes and have heard that they are very family-friendly areas to visit… and we can perfect our watersports whilst we are there! Katy at Otis and Us visited Lake Maggiore with her family last year and described it as “a perfect destination for families” in this post so I may very well act on her recommendation. Watch this space!

During August we will spend as much time on Anglesey as we can, as always! The kids and I will probably be there for most of the month and Daddy will join us at the weekends.

We’re also very excited to have been invited back to Just So Festival in Staffordshire on 16th/17th/18th August. We had such an amazing time there last year (read more here) and with it being their 10th anniversary, I’m sure this year’s festival will be better than ever!

Just So Stage

September to December is currently looking pretty quiet in the diary, so we need to get some exciting things planned! If anyone has any recommendations then please feel free to comment. One thing we definitely want to do is make the most of our National Trust membership, so if you know of any properties which the whole family will enjoy then let me know. We also want to do a London trip at some point this year (based around a visit to the “Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour” for my son’s birthday) so we’re looking forward to that too!

So there you have it…our plans so far for 2019! I’m hoping that there will be lots more additions to the diary over the coming months. Please feel free to comment below if you have any recommendations for things we can add to the diary!

Now it’s your turn Sarah at “Halia Rose” – what are your 2019 plans?

Disclosure: We will be gifted 2 tickets for “Horrible Histories,” a family ticket for “Wallace and Gromit’s Musical Marvels Tour” and tickets for “Just So Festival” and were gifted 2 tickets for our recent trip to the Monkey Forest. However, all thoughts and opinions are honest and our own.
