A great place to visit as a family is the multi award winning Trentham Gardens in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and earlier in the week the kids and I made an impromptu visit to let off some steam!
A FABULOUS PLACE FOR A UK FAMILY DAY OUT!
Trentham Gardens really is a fabulous place for a family day out! There is so much to see and do and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Below is what we managed to do in one afternoon but we’ll be back again later in the Summer to do everything else!
FIND THE TRENTHAM FAIRIES
There are 14 beautiful (wire!) fairies hidden around the mile-long lake and through the woodland, maze and gardens. There’s also another one visiting this Summer who has taken up residence in the Rivers of Grass.
THE BAREFOOT WALK AT TRENTHAM GARDENS
My children love the Barefoot Walk and it’s a definite “must do” whenever we visit Trentham, even in the depths of Winter!! Off come the shoes and you walk barefooted through mud, across pebbles, bark and more – fun and also therapeutic! Unfortunately, due to the extremely hot weather, the stream had dried up and walking across some of the pebbles and stones was like walking over hot coals, but it was still a great experience!
ADVENTURE PLAY AREA
The play area at Trentham Gardens is awesome, with lots to do for children of all ages. Favourites for my children are the Altitude Tower and slide, the big circular rope swing, the climbing nets (although Little Miss is too little for these) and the large sand play area with its activity tower and diggers. Unfortunately, Bean’s favourite activity, the zip wire was closed but when it’s open it is great fun too!Trentham Gardens been very thoughtful regarding the hot weather and covered a lot of the areas with canopies to provide shade, which was great!
HIDE AND SPEAK MAZE
This is another favourite with my children! A child friendly maze with special talking pipes through which you can whisper secrets (or shout for help!) to other people in the maze.
EXPLORING TRENTHAM GARDENS
The gardens at Trentham are absolutely beautiful and you can spend hours wandering and exploring in any weather. Perfect!!
